There hasn’t been much happening on here lately. I suppose because I’m doing so much other stuff which pretty much uses up all the content – and time – I’d put into the blog. I think from now on, this will serve as a sort of archive for other bits and pieces.

So, in summary:

My main man Jared and I have reinvented ourselves (again) as Thee Monkey’s Claw (him) and Prince Reelfoot (me), aka Hickeysonic. We’ve got a fortnightly show on Basic FM playing noise and drone and techno and avant garde stuff and bass culture and whatever the hell else we like, basically. There’s a blog here, and our Basic FM page here, and you can do the Facebook thumb thing here.

It’s good, you should listen. We’re hoping to turn this into the occasional live DJ slot too.

Randy & Earl’s Old Record Club

Our other incarnation as the Old Record Club trundles on in fits and starts, I still do the occasional Stagger Cast and we both write bits from time to time. Not much gigging these days with me in Newcastle and him in Birmingham but we are wheeling out the collection for yet another Glastonbury slot (Friday afternoon in the Pussy Parlure Nouveau). And even Randy & Earl have a new project – Randy & Earl’s Gospel Revue (& Medicine Show). 30 minutes a week of righteous gospel music, again on Basic FM (10.30am every Sunday).

Speaker Shaker

ANOTHER Basic FM show,  just me this time. Two hours a fortnight of reggae, dub, dancehall and more. And no, I WON’T be on the mic chanting down Babylon. I just play rekkids, innit? Blog here, Basic FM page here.

All these mixes and shows are archived and available on Mixcloud and all that

Narc & KYEO

Still doing quite a lot of writing for Narc Magazine and its online counterpart KYEO. I’ll keep archiving stuff on here in case anyone cares.

And there’s also my Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Mixcloud and Goodreads.

Because I’m a wanker.

The kindly folks at Mediafire have suspended our account for copyright infringement. This will affect all the mixes hosted for this site, Randy & Earl’s Old Record Club, Hickeysonic and Clockwatcher.

Please bear with us while we work on a solution, and if there’s a particular mix you crave, contact us and we’ll see what we can do.

We’ve hit 50,000 views. Not the most precise barometer of interest but it works for me.

been an age since I posted any links to my sister blog, Randy & Earl’s Record Club. Which is dumb, but there you go. Anyway, it’s been pretty busy, especially with Jared / Brother Earl on a big New Orleans tip of late. And the Stagger Casts keep coming – up to 44 now. So go take a look.

It’s Competition Time

Yes, popkids, it’s the annual Speakers Push Air competition. Each December I post my Albums Of The Year chart (it’s a Top 25 this year- ironically because there’s too much good stuff to do a top 30 that doesn’t hurt my brain). It starts next week on Wednesday December 7th.

All you have to do is guess what album will be number one. One guess each, and whoever gets closest wins a disc full of the very best music of the year and whatever other mixes and stuff that will fit. Last year Pete Hart guessed the actual number one (Buried Behind The Barn by Slim Cessna’s Auto Club), but I think this year is going to be harder. Mainly because I don’t even know what it is myself yet. I’ll be posting a tune a day up to NYE.

Message me your guess via Twitter or Facebook or the comments box right here.

Need your entries by December 7th

Bring it on.

For reference, here’s last year’s top 25 rundown:

1              Slim Cessna’s Auto Club – Buried Behind The Barn

2              Four Tet – There Is Love In You

3              Swans – My Father Will Guide Us

4              Los Campesinos – Romance Is Boring

5              Caitlin Rose – Own Side Now

6              Mogwai – Special Moves

7              Grinderman 2

8              Drive By Truckers – The Big To Do

9              Phosphorescent – Here’s To Taking It Easy

10           Forest Swords – Dagger Paths

11           Frontier Ruckus – Nightmalls & Dead Falls

12           Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers – Agridustrial

13           Living Sisters – Love To Live

Not really, but have you ever seen that weird looking shop, down at the end of Deptford High Street? Odd..

Anyway, I’ve been busy. I’ve been pulling in all the mixes I’ve made that I could find – 50 so far – and archiving them all on here, with artwork (new artwork if there wasn’t any originally) and tracklistings where I could find them.  The link is here, but also in the side bar over there <<< at the top.

And if that wasn’t enough, I’ve been archiving all the Stagger Casts I’ve made too – they get deleted from podomatic because of space, but now they’re safe. You can find them here.

I’m on LastFM. Did I mention I was on LastFM? Joined last year some time (like the book thing, it’s an aide memoire as much as anything).

Anyway, this is me
