My better half is training to be an English teacher. Pretty tough going at times.

Anyway, as a kind of creative stimulus exercise, she took in the Main Theme from Goblin’s soundtrack to Suspiria and asked a class of Year Eights what it brought to mind. She got some decent responses, a lot of “spooky”s and “creepy”s. And she also got the contribution above, from a girl who has definitely never seen, or even heard of, Suspiria.

On the left-hand side, that stick drawing of a girl? That’s a ballerina. We know that because the girl asked Miss how to draw one.

Don’t know about you, but that’s pretty impressive: she’s a perceptive kid and Goblin did their job well.

that’s pretty cool – I did a series of musical synaesthesia experiments on my (College) students a few years back … they got Coil as “sinister, funny and round, with swirls” and Venetian Snares as “lots of bad squares and lines, rubbing together and flying apart”
