This one’s a bit of a cheat, to be honest.

Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows technically came out in 2006, but it was only bought by emos and art students. It got a proper reissue in 2007 with extra tracks, and that’s good enough for me.

Imagine, if you will, that At The Drive In were any cop. That’s Gallows. A passionate, shouty, determined assault from some very, very angry young men. Men who see the tattoo as a valid expression of intensity. Works for me..

Perfect.

Gallows – Come Friendly Bombs
from the album Orchestra Of Wolves (Warners)

edit: I must admit, I wrote this last night whilst fairly drunk and it seems a bit odd, especially the At The Drive In reference (although I kind of know what I was getting at – ATDI had moments in their songs that just really went for it, but too often these exhilarating bits were bookended by proggy nonsense and bad poetry). Gallows just really really rock, in that emo straightedge determined committed way. But with great songs.
